What is order fulfillment?
Order fulfillment is the end-to-end process of getting a product from inventory to the customer’s doorstep accurately, quickly, and in good condition. It starts when an order is placed and continues through picking, packing, shipping, and if necessary, returns. A fulfillment partner like J.M. Field handles this entire process on behalf of brands that do not want to operate their own warehouse.
What is 3PL fulfillment?
3PL (third-party logistics) fulfillment is when a company outsources the storage and shipping of its inventory to a fulfillment partner who handles receiving, warehousing, pick/pack, and carrier shipping. The brand retains control over products and customer relationships but delegates the physical logistics operation to the 3PL. J.M. Field is a 3PL that also provides printing, design, and marketing distribution — more capabilities than a standard logistics warehouse.
How does kitting work?
Kitting is the process of combining multiple individual products into a single packaged unit — such as a welcome kit or subscription box — that ships as one item with one SKU. You send us the components, or we source them. We assemble them per your specification — either pre-kitted in batches or on-demand per order. Each kit is tracked in All In View as its own inventory item.
How does marketing fulfillment work?
Marketing fulfillment stores, manages, and ships branded materials (brochures, kits, signage, swag) through a coordinated operation, so marketing teams do not juggle multiple vendors. Your materials are stored in our warehouse, managed through All In View, and ordered by your team or field reps through a branded portal. We ship same-day on orders placed before cutoff. You see inventory levels in real time and get low-stock alerts before you run out.
How does ecommerce integration work?
An ecommerce site integrates with our All In View platform via API. Orders placed on your Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, or BigCommerce store flow into All In View automatically — no manual CSV upload, no copy-paste. Our warehouse picks, packs, and ships the order. The tracking number is posted back to the order and triggers your customer’s shipping notification email. Inventory counts update in real time. All In View connects to 100+ platforms.
What is same-day shipping cutoff?
The same-day cutoff is the latest time an order can be received and still ship that business day. Orders received before our cutoff are picked, packed, and handed to the carrier that same day. Orders received after the cutoff ship the next business day. The exact cutoff time depends on your program and the carriers you are using — your account rep will confirm your specific cutoff during onboarding.
Do you provide Amazon FBA prep services?
Yes. J.M. Field handles FBA-ready prep and labeling — polybagging, bubble wrapping, bundling, and applying labels to Amazon’s specifications — so your inventory enters FBA compliant and on schedule. This is particularly valuable following Amazon’s January 2026 decision to end FBA prep services in the US. We receive your inventory, prep it per Amazon’s current requirements, and ship it to the designated FBA receiving center.
What is All In View?
All In View is J.M. Field’s proprietary fulfillment platform. It connects your store, ERP, or EDI system to our warehouse, providing real-time inventory, order visibility, and reporting through a single portal. Clients use it to place orders, check inventory, manage budgets, approve requests, and generate reports. Role-based permissions let you control what each user can see and do. It integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, Zoho, and 90+ other systems.
What is pick, pack, and ship?
Pick means pulling ordered items from inventory locations in the warehouse. Pack means placing them in appropriate packaging — boxes, mailers, or custom branded cartons — with any required inserts. Ship means generating the shipping label, handing the package to the carrier, and posting the tracking number back to the order. Together, pick, pack, and ship form the core of every fulfillment operation. Our 99.8% accuracy rate reflects performance at each of these three steps.
Can you handle hazmat and FDA products?
Yes. J.M. Field’s facilities and processes support hazmat handling and FDA-related requirements, with compliance documentation and traceability. Our team handles lot tracking, expiration date management, and FEFO (first expired, first out) picking for products that require it. If you have specific regulatory requirements, share them with us during the quoting process and we will confirm our compliance capabilities for your product category.
